Standardization, where technology meets the market

International standardization creates common criteria so that technologies from different companies, organizations and countries can work together.

01Identifying new market needs

We identify the technical requirements of industry change and new services first-hand in standardization forums.

02Shaping the direction of R&D

We translate standardization discussions into the technical materials and requirements needed for research projects, demonstrations and product development.

03Ensuring interoperability of products and services

We carry global standards through implementation and validation so they can be applied in real industrial environments.

Shaping technology direction in international standardization

We have built broad experience across intergovernmental bodies such as ITU and APT, as well as industry and regional standards organizations including IALA, 3GPP, IEEE, GCF, oneM2M, TTA, ETSI and ATIS.

APT / AWGAsia-Pacific radiocommunications and PPDR

We take part in international leadership roles and standardization discussions on public protection and disaster relief communications.

ITU-R SG7Science services and international spectrum cooperation

Through leadership roles in the science services study group, we take part in international discussions on radio and spectrum use.

IALAMaritime communications and next-generation mobile networks

We continue international cooperation on maritime communications, autonomous vessels and the maritime application of next-generation mobile communications.

3GPP / oneM2MMobile communications, public warning and IoT

We connect industry needs in maritime communications, public warning and IoT interoperability with global technical standards.

01
Maritime and Vessels

Extending mobile communications to the sea

Since 2016, through activities centered on 3GPP and IALA, we have researched the requirements for applying land-based mobile communications to the sea, including linking vessel identification with communications identifiers, maritime communication ranges of approximately 100 km, ship-to-ship communications and the delivery of maritime emergency information. In 2018, these requirements were incorporated into 3GPP international technical specifications.

Over the course of maritime standardization, we took part in 25 meetings and submitted 159 contributions, completing the technical specifications through review and validation with global mobile communications companies. This experience now underpins our research on communications for autonomous vessels, DX-Ocean and our maritime data services.

Public Safety and Emergency Response

Public warnings that reach more people and devices

We have researched public warning technologies that address multilingual support, information accessibility and IoT device integration, and have reflected Korean requirements in a range of standards bodies, including 3GPP, APT, ITU, ISO and oneM2M.

Our public warning research has expanded into improvements to emergency alert messaging, next-generation earthquake alert services and IoT-based alert delivery technology, and contributed to the establishment of the Korean national standard KS X 3285.

IoT Standards and Testing

Validating standards in real test environments

Centered on oneM2M, we have researched technologies for verifying the interoperability of IoT platforms and devices and the standards conformance of products.

Our experience in oneM2M standardization and GCF testing and certification led to CertMate and the development of a range of test environments. SyncTechno's strength lies in turning the requirements of standards documents into test environments that can be used in actual product validation and certification procedures.

Consulting to put international standards changes to work in business and R&D

When adopting new technology or pursuing R&D, changes and requirements in the relevant international standards must be considered. Drawing on experience gained in international standardization, SyncTechno reviews technology trends, scope of application and R&D direction with you.

The specific scope of support is agreed according to the technology and business objectives.

01Standards and technology trend analysis

We review changes in the relevant international standards and industry trends and summarize the technical background and key issues needed for your business and R&D.

02Review of technical requirements and scope

We review the standards requirements and considerations that apply to the target technology and services.

03Review of standardization response strategy

We review technology development and response strategies based on the domestic and international standardization landscape and the direction of discussions in the relevant bodies.

04Linking R&D and commercialization

We review follow-up R&D and product application so that standard technologies can be reflected in R&D projects, products and services.

Next-generation standards

Preparing for 6G and next-generation industrial networks

Mobile communications technology is expanding beyond 5G industrial convergence into new network environments, including integration with satellite networks, 6G and industrial IoT. Drawing on research and standardization experience in mobile communications, maritime, public safety, IoT and radio, SyncTechno continues to explore the technology topics needed for next-generation industrial environments.
