Korea Electric Power Research Institute

We built a CertMate-based test and simulation environment for repeatedly validating the profiles of new services and devices added to the e-IoT platform.

About the customer

The e-IoT platform that manages power equipment status with IoT data

The Korea Electric Power Research Institute’s e-IoT platform collects and analyzes data from IoT sensors installed on power equipment, including transformers, to identify equipment status and failure risks and to support remote control. To detect anomalies in power equipment in advance and expand into power services for smart homes, smart cities, smart factories and other areas, it must be possible to verify that new devices and services interwork reliably with the existing platform.

Challenge

Device profiles and actual data behavior had to be validated repeatedly whenever a new service was added

Adding a new e-IoT service required registering manufacturer, device type and gateway information, storing a profile for each service and then controlling the devices. A dedicated tester was needed to confirm that the actual data sent by devices matched expected values, run defined test cases repeatedly and manage results in a consistent format.

Solution

Device registration, test execution, detailed logs and result reporting were combined in one simulator

In the CertMate-based simulator, users can register new devices under test and gateway information and configure test plans for each service. They can select and run the required cases from predefined test items and analyze problem points by reviewing the behavior between devices and the platform in detailed logs.

  1. 01Test device and gateway registration

Test conditions are configured by registering the manufacturer, device type, service profile and gateway information.

  2. 02Test case execution

Required test cases are selected and run repeatedly to verify the behavior of the platform and devices.

  3. 03Detailed results and reports

Users can review the test environment, ATS information, summaries and per-item results, and generate reports in PDF and JSON formats.

Outcome

We established an operating foundation for repeated validation with the same procedure as services grow

Registration, execution, verdicts and reporting can be carried out with the same procedure whenever new devices and services are added, providing a foundation for the scalability and operational reliability of the e-IoT platform.
